QVM, Q Virtual Machine (.qvm)
The QVM System file format
The QVM file extension is used for files created using a program called Q. Q is a program developed for Mac OS X to emulate other operating systems. Typically, it was used to emulate Windows or Linux on a Mac computer. The QVM file itself can be seen as a mocked hard disk. When loading the file inside Q, it starts the installed Linux or Windows installation.
Technical details of QVM files
At the present time, the Q emulator is deprecated. Support and maintenance have been stopped and there is no further development. Thus, the QVM format can be regarded as deprecated as well, even though computers running on old Mac OS X operating systems with an old Q installation can still read these files.
