VNT - Mobile Phone vNote File

What is a VNT file

Applications for various mobile phones use VNT files to store notes in form of text. Any standard text editor is able to open VNT files. Yet, it may still be impossible to read the notes since the message is typically encoded before saving. The correct decoder for the used encoding mechanism may be needed to interpret a message saved in a VNT file.

Notes saved in the VNT format are saved as text. The start of the text is denoted with "BEGIN:VNOTE" and the end with "END:VNOTE". Other information typically included in the note include encoding mechanism, date of creation, date of last modification and class.

Here's a small, but not exhaustive list of programs that can open VNT documents:

  • Apple Text Editor
  • BlockSoft MemoBlock
  • Microsoft Notepad
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft WordPad
  • Notes for Sony Ericsson
  • Samsung S Memo
